Climate Change and Security: Presentation of the Med-Or Report
On March 31, 2025, the Med-Or Italian Foundation presented Climate Change and Security: A Global Challenge, a report dedicated to examining the impact of climate change on security. This in-depth analysis explores the economic, political, and geopolitical consequences of climate change, with a particular focus on the Mediterranean region.

The increasing frequency of floods, wildfires, and droughts poses significant threats to infrastructure, geopolitical stability, and food security. Rising sea levels and extreme heat waves further exacerbate these risks, necessitating a strategic and coordinated international response. The report provides an analysis of the global repercussions of the climate crisis and outlines potential mitigation and adaptation strategies.
The event, moderated by Enrico Casini, Director of Communications at Med-Or, featured contributions from experts and institutional representatives, including Giampaolo Cutillo (Director for Global Issues, Directorate-General for Globalization and Global Affairs, Italian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation – MAECI), Carlo Doglioni (Professor of Geodynamics, Sapienza University of Rome, and Vice President of the Accademia Nazionale dei Lincei), Sandro Carniel (Senior Researcher, National Research Council – Institute of Polar Sciences), Raffaella Luglini (Chief Sustainability Officer, Leonardo), Giulia Genuardi (Managing Director, Enel Foundation), and Cecilia Gatti (Executive Director Institutional Affairs, SNAM).
Through this initiative, Med-Or aims to foster international cooperation and raise awareness of one of the most pressing challenges of our time: climate change. The e-book is available for free on the foundation’s website.
