Med-Or attends “The Atlantic Dialogues” in Marrakech

Med-Or Foundation attended the 12th edition of the international conference “The Atlantic Dialogues” organized by the think tank The Policy Center for the New South in Marrakech, Morocco

From 14 to 16 December 2023, the 12th edition of “The Atlantic Dialogues” was held in Marrakech, an annual high-level international conference organized by the Moroccan think tank The Policy Center for the New South. The conference, first launched in 2012, sees every year the participation of representatives of the institutions, politicians, industry representatives and experts from all over the Atlantic Basin, with the common objective of addressing key strategic issues in the area.

The 2023 edition of the conference focused on the theme “A more assertive Atlantic: its meaning for the world”. The idea of a more assertive Atlantic is, in fact, at the root of a number of economic, political and security trends that have the potential to significantly impact on the world. Thus, a deeper understanding of the meaning and potential implications of this new perception of the Atlantic Basin is needed.

As part of the 12th edition of the conference, Med-Or took part in a Breakout Dinner focused on the promotion of global education and the improvements for youth perspectives. The panel was attended by Massimo Khairallah - Deputy Director of International Relations at Med-Or, Khalid Chegraoui - Senior Fellow of the Policy Center for the New South, Jason Hughes - Member of the Louisiana House of Representatives, and Ade Mabogunje - Senior Research Engineer at Stanford University.

The panel wanted to analyze different issues, including the specific challenges that developing countries face in terms of access to quality education; how education is perceived as a catalyst for shared prosperity and individual freedom; how governments address the challenges in education and how should responses vary among low, middle and high income countries; what has been the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on global education, particularly concerning learning poverty and adaptive solutions to this issue.
